Yahoo Movies Benedict Cumberbatch's new Netflix movie gets first look
A first look at Benedict Cumberbatch's upcoming Roald Dahl adaption The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar is here.
Based on Dahl's short story of the same name, the film is an adventure tale that tells the story of Henry Sugar, a wealthy gambler with magical powers. Wes Anderson directs the movie, which will stream on Netflix sometime after making its Venice Film Festival debut in September.
The newly released image shows Ben Kingsley (Shang-Chi, Iron Man 3), Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd), and Dev Patel (The Green Knight, Slumdog Millionaire) all in costume. In the photo, the three men are shown staring into the camera in a hospital while two other characters stand in the background.

In the upcoming film, Cumberbatch plays the lead role of Henry Sugar, who has found himself disenchanted with life after learning about a person who could see without using their eyes.
Following his revelation, Henry steals a book teaching him to see through and around solid objects. After mastering the skill, he uses his new powers for the greater good, winning money at top casinos around the world and then using the cash to help those in need.
Patel plays Dr Chatterjee, Kingsley stars as Imdad Khan and Ayoade portrays Dr Marshall. Ralph Fiennes (The Grand Budapest Hotel) and Rupert Friend (The French Dispatch) will also feature in the movie.
The production follows the success of Anderson's previous Roald Dahl adaption, 2009's Fantastic Mr Fox.
Meanwhile, The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar isn't the only one of the famous author's works set to be produced by Netflix. The streaming site is currently working on a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory prequel series and previously partnered with Sony Pictures for 2022's Matilda the Musical.
The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar will premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September 2023. It's set to stream on Netflix, but no launch date has yet been announced.
