Remember When Pamela Anderson Got Married in a Bikini? Bridal Bathing Suits Are Totally a Thing

This is not your typical beach wedding. Nev Schulman, the creator of MTV’s Catfish, and longtime girlfriend Laura Perlongo tied the knot in the Hamptons over the weekend and celebrated in their swimwear.

The ceremony took place in Schulman’s father’s backyard, where the 32-year-old producer wore a white tuxedo jacket and black slacks, alongside Perlongo, who wore a gown by Inbal Raviv. Their 9-month-old daughter, Cleo, was the star of the event as she was brought down the aisle in a wagon, serving as the couple’s flower girl. Once it came time to head to the reception, however, all three guests of honor stripped down.

In a beachside reception on East Hampton, the couple hosted about 100 guests who rode waves in the ocean and enjoyed pizza, rosé, and music by a live DJ. And instead of rocking just one bridal bathing suit, Perlongo showed off two.

The first bikini of the day was seriously bridal, with frill details on the top and a high-waisted bottom. A blue garter topped off the look, with lace tied around Perlongo’s ankles as an extra marital detail.

The bride’s following look featured a bandeau-style two-piece that showed more skin as the celebrations continued.

The laid-back reception was an homage to their love, which apparently began on the same backyard beach. But the bridal bikini has a history that started long before that.

Back in 2006, Pamela Anderson famously wore a white string bikini to her St. Tropez “wedding” to Kid Rock. The nuptials turned out not to be a legal union; however, the couple still celebrated in style on a yacht.

About five years later, model Kate Upton made waves during 2011’s Miami Swim Week. In a runway show for Beach Bunny Swimwear, the brand debuted a high-waisted bridal bikini paired with a plethora of pearls and of course, a floor-length veil.

Chrissy Teigen did a collaboration with the same brand in 2013, when she was inspired by her upcoming nuptials to John Legend. In a series of bathing suits featuring Chantilly lace and Swarovski crystals, Teigen modeled the line alongside Beach Bunny alum Kate Upton, although Teigen ultimately wore a Vera Wang gown on her big day.

Bridal bikinis aren’t exclusive to one’s wedding day. Instead, some have been known to wear custom two-pieces for all different wedding-related occasions. Kim Kardashian was pictured in a Mrs. Humphries bikini during the honeymoon of her famous 72-day-marriage to the basketball player, while Alessandra Ambrosio rocked a Team Bride bikini alongside her bestie and fellow model Ana Beatriz Barros.
