Beto O'Rourke has officially dropped out of the 2020 presidential race.

The former Texas representative shared his decision to end his bid hours before Iowa's annual Liberty and Justice celebration in October.

O'Rourke, legally Robert Francis O’Rourke, began his political career as a clerk for Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist after graduating from Harvard Law School. From there, however, his career took a slight turn when he moved back to his hometown, El Paso, Texas. It was there that O'Rourke co-founded a web design company and explored the entrepreneurial space.

After meeting and marrying his wife Amy Hoover Sanders in 2005, Beto jumped back into the world of politics. That same year, he ran and was elected to the El Paso City Council, serving from 2005 to 2011. Following his time in the city council, he held office in the U.S. House of Representatives, where he served from 2013 to January 2019.

According to Ballotpedia, O'Rourke was documented as one of the wealthiest members of Congress in 2015. His business ventures combined with his real estate investments and wife's inheritance puts his net worth between $3.42 Million to $16.36 Million.
