Beverly Hills Cop Sequel Bags Directing Duo
The new ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ sequel has found its directors.
According to Deadline, the upcoming ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ movie will be directed by filmmaking duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.
“Paramount has set Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to direct its long awaited fourth instalment of the Beverly Hills Cop series,” they revealed. “The Belgian writer-directors are best known for their edgy drama ‘Black’, which won the Discovery Award at the Toronto Film Festival last year.”

Of course, ‘Black’ made waves at the Toronto Film Festival last year. It was essentially a Romeo & Juliet story about a 15-year-old girl in a black street gang in Brussels, who must choose between her gang loyalty and a Moroccan boy from a rival gang.
Not quite the comedy credentials to take on ‘Beverly Hills Cop’.
And it’s quite a big step up to take on a well-loved, blockbuster comedy franchise.
But apparently, the studio is looking for filmmakers to invoke a youthful energy into the now-classic (bordering on ageing) comedy franchise.
“The studio, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Eddie Murphy have been working diligently to get the script and elements right for a film that had been once been slated to be released this year.”
But what’s the new ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ all about?
“They will direct a script by writers Josh Appelbaum & Andre Nemec that will bring Murphy’s street smart cop character Axel Foley back to his Detroit origins,” they revealed. “It is gritty with the trademark irreverent humor that powered the first three films to north of $735 million in global box office.”
Let’s just hope it’s as good as the originals.
