Bieber blunders with Japanese history

Perhaps Justin Bieber should just steer clear of sites of historical interest in the future, as he can't seem to stop himself putting his foot in it one way or another.

After causing upset at a museum dedicated to Jewish diarist Anne Frank last year by remarking that he hoped the "great girl" would have been a Belieber, the Biebs has made another slip-up while in Japan.

The pop scamp shared a picture of himself at the Yasukuni Shrine on Tuesday, a shrine that is said to be home to the spirits of the country's military commanders - including 14 convicted war criminals.

Probably not the best spot for a selfie, Justin.

The singer's been quick to apologise though, and guess what - it wasn't his fault.

After being bombarded with messages of shock from fans, Justin removed the offending snap from his Instagram account and wrote, "While in Japan I asked my driver to pull over for which I saw a beautiful shrine (sic). I was mislead to think the Shrines were only a place of prayer (sic). To anyone I have offended I am extremely sorry. I love you China and I love you Japan."

Seeing as you're regularly travelling all over the world, Justin, maybe you should spend some time on the plane reading up on the history of your next destination - or at least get someone in the know to check your pictures before you share them with the world!
