The billionaire owner of homeware chain The Range has been blasted for apparently blocking disabled access at the opening of his new flagship store – with his ferrari.

The £200,000 car with the personalised registration ‘DAW50N’, believed to belong to Chris Dawson, was pictured blocking a pavement, leaving at least one wheelchair user struggling to access the shop in Plymouth, Devon.

Raymond Mciver, 35, who took a picture of the supercar blocking the access, said he was shocked to see a lady in a wheelchair having to dangerously take to the road to get around.

He said: “Mr Dawson parked his fancy sports car on the path and we had to use the main road to get past. No one could walk past [the car] on the pavement.”

He added: “Everyone in the disabled bays had to go around the car off the pavement for around 10 to 15 meters and to me that’s dangerous. There was a lady in a wheelchair struggling to get around as it was a raised curb.

“It’s disgusting. There was an elderly lady with a stick in each hand who was unsteady on her feet. A car had to stop and let them go past. I felt really frustrated.”

A representative for Dawson declined to comment but the businessman is known for his love of expensive cars.

He has been spotted in the past driving his Bentley as well as high-end Range Rovers.

In the past, his Range Rover had to be winched out the way after it blocked the entrance to a funeral home.

In October 2015, it was reported how a family was left “distraught” after a relative’s body was stranded outside the funeral directors because of the parking gaffe.
