Billy Zane Thinks Rose Should Have Picked Cal Over Jack In Titanic

Billy Zane has no time for your beloved Hollywood romance. He’s revealed that he thinks Kate Winslet’s Rose should have stayed with his character Cal in James Cameron’s 1997 classic ‘Titanic’.

Zane played the non-Iceberg villain of the classic disaster movie - an abusive and vile man engaged to Rose before romance blossoms between her and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jack.

Defending Cal on US morning show Today, Zane joked (via The Independent): “He was a little misunderstood! I wasn’t the iceberg. I did not drown 2,000 people.

“I think he found redemption by the end and I wish he had found her on the Carpathia [the rescue boat] and was able to right his wrongs.”

We’re not sure fans of ‘Titanic’ would agree. Also we should point out that Cal’s character doesn’t only slap Rose during the film, but also aims and fires a gun at her as the ship is sinking.

But sure Billy, Rose would definitely be the forgiving type.

Zane’s sneering performance is despicable in all the right ways, and an underrated aspect of the film - which remains the second highest-grossing film of all time.

Back in February, Kate Winslet finally conceded that Rose probably could have fit Jack on the wreckage that saved her at the end of the film, and saved him from his icy fate.
