Yahoo Movies Black Widow: Everything you need to know
Marvel fans have been asking for a Black Widow solo movie for a long while. It took years, but eventually the studio listened and a Black Widow movie was announced. However, after the announcement it was relatively quiet on the news front.
We knew, of course, that it would star Scarlett Johansson in the titular role but not much else. Johansson did have particular feelings about the not-an-origin-story.
Fans were grasping at straws for any hint that the movie would signal Black Widow wasn't really dead. Unfortunately, Johansson has dashed those hopes while also reassuring fans that they'll get closure.
But apart from closure, what else do we know about the upcoming Black Widow standalone movie?
Black Widow trailer: When is the trailer online?
The trailer for Black Widow has officially launched online and the Internet has some very strong, and positive, feelings about it. In case you missed it above, you can watch the trailer again below.
We finally get to see Natasha's white suit, teased during Disney's D23 event in August, in action too.
We already spotted an Easter egg which ties Black Widow, in particular Florence Pugh's Yelena, to Avengers: Infinity War. There's also a callback to a very specific moment in Iron Man 2 you may have missed.
As for the rest of it, we finally get a glimpse of Taskmaster (we think?) as well as Rachel Weisz as another Black Widow and David Harbour as Red Guardian.
Black Widow release date: When's it coming?
The long-awaited solo movie was confirmed at Comic-Con to be the first movie of Phase 4 when it's released on May 1, 2020. It's unclear if it will have a traditional earlier release in the UK.

It's not a particular surprise that Black Widow will be the first out as filming already started on the prequel movie in June.
Black Widow cast: Who'll be in it?
Obviously Scarlett Johansson will be in it as Black Widow and the official announcement of the movie didn't hold any surprises.
David Harbour, Rachel Weisz, Florence Pugh and O-T Fagbenle were already confirmed to all star in the movie, but we do now at least know who they'll be playing.
Harbour will star as Alexei Shostakov, AKA The Red Guardian, and Pugh will be playing Yelena, while Fagbenle will be Mason and Weisz will star as Melina.

Ray Winstone had been reported to be in talks to star in the movie, but he wasn't confirmed at the panel.
Could we also see Sebastian Stan, AKA Bucky Barnes, AKA the Winter Soldier? He's got a great idea for what the story could involve.
"They have a very nice history in my opinion," Stan said. "It's very intricate... the truth is, he actually taught her in the comic books. He was a teacher to her. It's all set during a specific, interesting time, the Cold War.
"It's all a very... spy, thrillerish, noirish story. It would be very interesting to explore that on film. I would love if they do that. You know, I hope. Maybe they will."
Behind the scenes, Australian filmmaker Cate Shortland is directing the solo movie.
Black Widow plot: What's it about?
Right, it's time to get spoilery about Avengers: Endgame, so look away now if you still haven't seen it.
Sadly, Black Widow sacrificed herself to save Hawkeye and get the Soul Stone from Vormir during the time heist. So that surely means that the only route to go for her solo movie is a prequel.
Johansson has previously spoken about Black Widow having a "really rich" origin story that the movie could focus on.
Following the Comic-Con announcement, Johansson also teased that the movie will see Natasha in a "dark place where she's got no one to call and nowhere to go".
"When something huge explodes and all the pieces are landing, you have that moment of stillness where you don't know what to do next — that's the moment that she's in," she added. "In that moment, you actually have to face yourself."
Ominous.
Harbour also spoke about his "rock star" character: "In a way he's a super-soldier, but he's also a very complicated guy. He has a lot of flaws, a lot of idiosyncrasies. It's a very rich character."
We also now know for sure that Taskmaster will be in the movie, but who will be playing the villain? We still don't know, and the trailer didn't illuminate the answer.
Black Widow is released on May 1, 2020.
