Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water…
Oh, we’re kidding. Hollywood has made it abundantly clear to us over the years that it’s never safe to go back in the water.
This most definitely appears to be the case in ‘The Shallows,’ a new thriller arriving this summer starring Blake Lively as a surfer facing a living nightmare.
Take a look at the new teaser trailer below, which just came online today.
Lively (previously seen in TV’s ‘Gossip Girl,’ ‘Green Lantern’ and ‘The Age of Adaline’) stars as Nancy, a young woman grieving the loss of her mother. Whilst surfing alone, she finds herself injured and trapped 200 yards from the shore - with a great white shark nearby.
As it’s been described as ‘127 Hours’ with a shark, we can expect Lively to be alone on screen (or at least, the only human) for most of the movie, so hopes are high that this could prove a career turning point for the actress, who at present remains best known for being married to Ryan Reynolds.
The original script by Anthony Jaswinski (initially entitled ‘In The Deep’) made the coveted ‘Black List’ of the best unproduced scripts in Hollywood last year.
Photography took place in New South Wales, Australia in late 2015, with Jaume Collet-Serra (’Run All Night,’ ‘Non-Stop’) is directing.
‘The Shallows’ opens in UK cinemas on 1 July.
