Pixar release first Monsters University teaser trailer

With their latest film 'Brave' about to hit cinemas in the US, Pixar has released the first teaser trailer for their long-awaited prequel to 2001's classic 'Monsters Inc'.

'Monsters University' follows Sulley (John Goodman) and Mike (Bill Crystal) through their time at the University of Fear as their friendship evolves and is put to the test.

The trailer is simple but effective, parodying a familiar scene from the original's opening before a sight gag involving a prank played on Mike and some of the party scenes you'd expect from a film about university life. Even one with monsters.

We can only hope this is a college campus movie in a similar vein to 'Animal House' or 'Revenge Of The Nerds' albeit with a lighter tone, because with the talent on hand at Pixar it could be something very special.

When it was first announced we were sceptical about the idea of a second 'Monsters Inc' seeing as the last one ended so perfectly, however making it a prequel as they have done has made believers out of us, and we can't wait to see the finished product.

Also starring Steve Buscemi, Ken Jeong and Kelsey Grammer, 'Monsters University' is expected in cinemas on 12 July 2013.
