DiCaprio charms in ‘The Great Gatsby’ trailer

F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel 'The Great Gatsby' has been given the full Baz Luhrmann treatment in this sumptuous first trailer.

Check it out below.

We have lavish 1920's flapper parties, a modern soundtrack (see also 'Moulin Rouge!') and a glimpse at the story's underlying tragedy.

Leonardo DiCaprio stars as the titular Jay Gatsby, a self-made man known for throwing wild parties and his mysterious past. Tobey Maguire plays the book's narrator Nick Carraway, who becomes drawn into Gatsby's decadent world, while Carey Mulligan is Daisy Buchanan, the flighty beauty who once had an affair with Gatsby.

We think the trailer looks stunning, but Luhrmann's films (he also made 'Australia', 'Romeo + Juliet' and 'Strictly Ballroom') aren't everyone's cup of tea, so let us know what you think below.

'The Great Gatsby' is released in 3D on 26 December.
