DVD extra links Blade Runner and Prometheus

An 'easter egg' from the DVD release of 'Prometheus' links it with the same world as Ridley Scott's sci-fi masterpiece 'Blade Runner'.

Scott's precursor to the 'Alien' films exists 70 years apart from 'Blade Runner', but the two are seemingly connected in a 'memo' found in the DVD extras which is supposedly written by Peter Weyland, Guy Pearce's character in 'Prometheus'.

In the memo, spotted by Screencrush, Weyland talks of his 'mentor', giving a number of hints that he was none other than Eldon Tyrell, the genius doctor who created the replicants in 'Blade Runner'.

Weyland speaks of how his mentor 'chose to replicate the power of creation', and that he was like 'a God on top of a pyramid overlooking a city of angels', referring to Tyrell's pyramid headquarters in Los Angeles.

Fan sites are reportedly a-froth with rumours that the two worlds may now overlap, and that the forthcoming sequel to 'Blade Runner' might link the two film properties.

Ridley Scott revealed he was working on a sequel to his 1982 classic earlier this year, and that it will feature a female protagonist.
