How George Lazenby blagged James Bond role

Ever wondered how George Lazenby, an Australian model with no previous acting experience, managed to nab the title role in a James Bond film? Us too.

In our exclusive clip from the feature documentary 'Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007', he reveals that he fell in love with the character while on a date, deciding then and there that he must somehow play the character… even though he wasn't an actor.

In a move reminiscent of Bond himself, Lazenby blagged himself an audience with producer Harry Saltzman by sneaking into his office and lying about appearing in films made in Germany, Russia and Hong Kong ("every place I thought they couldn't check on").

Eventually he was asked to dinner with director Peter Hunt, and even when he came clean about never acting, they were impressed enough by his chutzpah to cast him in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'.

'Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007' is released on October 5 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of James Bond on film.
