New Star Trek images unveiled

A raft of new 'Star Trek Into Darkness' pictures have been unveiled.

The new images show various members of the cast of director JJ Abrams' hotly-anticipated sequel in all manner of action poses, including a rather alarmed-looking Simon Pegg, who reprises his role of Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott.

There's also snaps of Chris Pine's Captain James T. Kirk, Alice Eve's Dr. Carol Marcus, Zoe Saldana's Nyota Uhuru and Zachary Quinto as Mr Spock.

Meanwhile, there are further shots of the film's new villain, Benedict Cumberbatch, who is playing the mysterious 'John Harrison'.

In addition, there's also a picture of what looks like a pow-wow between Pine's Kirk and Bruce Greenwood, who plays Admiral Christopher Pike.

The pictures emerge after news that Abrams, who is notoriously secretive over his plots, gave a terminally ill 'Star Trek' fan a secret screening of the film despite it being unfinished.

It doesn't hit cinemas until May 17.
