Twilight fans must have ‘mental disorder’ jokes Pattinson

'Twilight's Robert Pattinson joked with fans that they must have a 'mental disorder' to be camping out in the cold waiting to see the final installment in the vampire franchise.

The British actor was doing a red carpet walkabout at the premiere of 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2' in London's Leicester Square.

"(The reaction) makes me feel very foreign. It's really nice, it's really nice, especially after five years," he said.

"They have stuck around, they're still camping out, I respect that. It's very, very, very cold and I don't understand what kind of mental disorder you have."

He also added that without the films, he might not have even continued pursuing acting at all.

"For me it's changed everything about my life," he said. "I don't even think I'd be acting if I wasn't doing this, or if I hadn't done the first one. It's crazy. The character and the whole experience combined for me.

"It's definitely really created something which connects to people on a very fundamental level, it's like primal."

Pattinson, who had been a model from the age of 12, had dabbled with some small roles before landing in 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' in 2005 as Cedric Diggory.

But it was playing Edward Cullen in the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's books that cemented his stardom.

Meanwhile, Pattinson's girlfriend, co-star Kristen Stewart, said the experience of calling time on the 'Twilight' films felt 'weird'.

"Usually we're at one of these premieres going, I don't know, you can't really feel it because you're not done," she said. "You're a little desensitised by it all because you have another one coming up.

"This time it's a trip, it is weird. Sometimes things don't hit you until you hear about them after."

And she was, of course, plagued with questions about whether she would consider appearing as Bella Swan in the future, after Meyer recently hinted at the possibly of writing further books.

Asked if she'd be involved, Stewart said: "Yeah. I can't imagine it but yeah of course."

The film hits cinemas in the UK on Friday.
