Loose Women Viewers Call For Coleen Nolan To Be Fired Following Controversial Gay Rights Comments

Coleen caused outrage on Twitter when she appeared to compare gay rights to supporting ISIS.

Coleen Nolan has come under fire for comments made on Loose Women, where she appeared to compare supporting gay rights to supporting ISIS, with some viewers even calling for her to be fired.

The 50-year-old's comments came during a discussion about the recent Northern Ireland 'gay cake' row, where Ashers Baking Company were taken to court after they refused to make a gay wedding cake.

The bakers were found guilty of discrimination.

Coleen defended the bakery on the grounds that it was against their religious beliefs to support gay marriage, before shocking viewers by suggesting that it would be the same if the bakery wished to refuse to make a cake with a design supporting extremist militant group Islamic State (ISIS).

She argued: “At the end of the day, if you went in there and two days later they said ‘we don’t want to make your cakes because of our beliefs’, you’d just never go back to that shop and you’d probably say to all your gay friends, ‘don’t go there, they’re anti-gay,’ and boycott it.

“What about if somebody walked in and said I want a cake and I want the whole Islamic State on it and how I support it and how I support them killing our people.

"Because it’s a business do they have to make it? And if they turn around and say they’re not making it, we’d all applaud it."

Janet Street-Porter also incorrectly said that gay marriage is legal in Northern Ireland during the debate, before claiming that Gareth Lee had set out to "test" the law when he placed the order.

Jamelia also believes that the bakery's "religious rights aren't being taken into account," but that she supports "equal rights for everyone."

However, social media users were focused on Coleen's comments, taking to Twitter to slam her comparison.

One tweeted: "I hope Coleen Nolan is disciplined for her comments basically comparing gay people to Isis. Disturbing to me that she's on TV!"

Another said: "I'm hoping @ITV and @loosewomen apologise today for the appalling comments of Coleen Nolan. Being gay isn't comparable to being part of ISIS."

One wrote: "Being a member of ISIS is a choice, Sexuality is not @loosewomen @NolanColeen."

Others were calling for the panelist to be sacked, with one saying: "I hope you get fired for that @NolanColeen.”

Another user tweeted: "Coleen Nolan. What a vile, toxic woman with vile, toxic views. Comparing gay equality to ISIS? Needs to be sacked @loosewomen."

Yikes.
