Blue Jays' Vladimir Guerrero Jr. after walk-off win vs. Yankees: 'This is my house'

On Monday night, Toronto Blue Jays superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. drove in a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning to sink the AL East rival New York Yankees at Rogers Centre.

After he was swarmed by teammates and showered with Gatorade, Guerrero Jr. turned to the crowd and let them know who runs this town.

"This is my house," he said repeatedly, pointing down and beating his chest.

While Jays fans revelled in their star slugger's latest highlight, Yankees fans could not understand New York manager Aaron Boone's decision not to intentionally walk Guerrero Jr. with first base open and two outs in the inning.

Toronto had chosen to walk AL MVP favourite Aaron Judge — who is one shy of Roger Maris' AL record for home runs in a season — only minutes earlier, which resulted in Tim Mayza forcing Anthony Rizzo into a groundout for the third out.

Guerrero Jr. also scored the tying run in the bottom of the fourth when Teoscar Hernandez drove in two runs on a near grand slam to centre field.

The 23-year-old has 30 home runs and 91 RBIs, while slashing .276/.479/.819 in 153 games this season, falling short of the lofty standards he set a year ago as the AL MVP runner-up.

The Blue Jays will host the AL East-leading Yankees again on Tuesday, looking to tie the season series at nine wins apiece before the final showdown of the regular season between the two on Wednesday.

Toronto is sitting relatively comfortably in the top wild-card spot in the American League, three games ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays and 7.5 games back of New York.
