Boston College Hoops Scandal Subject of New Movie (EXCLUSIVE)

Mad Hatter Entertainment is developing a movie project about the 1978-79 Boston College point-shaving scandal.

Michael Connolly’s production company has acquired movie rights to David L. Porter’s “Fixed: How Goodfellas Bought Boston College Basketball.”

The point-fixing scheme, which was orchestrated by mobster Henry Hill of the Lucchese crime family, involved several Boston College players attempting to hold down the score so that the team would fall short of the point spread.

The conspiracy was discovered when Hill as arrested on drug trafficking charges and resulted in the conviction of Jimmy “the Gent” Burke, wanted for masterminding the Lufthansa Airlines heist.

The FBI ultimately used this scandal to bring down one of the most powerful crime families in New York, responsible for multiple murders and the largest cash heist in U.S. history. Hill testified against his associates and went into the federal witness protection program.

Hill was portrayed by Ray Liotta in Martin Scorsese’s “Goodfellas.”

“We are very excited about this book and really think that it will attract A-list talent across the board,” Connolly said. “David did his homework and has crafted an unbelievable true crime story that is one part ‘Goodfellas,’ one part corrupt college basketball, one part FBI investigation and one part courtroom drama.”

Connolly recent credits include “How to Train Your Dragon 2″ and the Netflix original series “Hemlock Grove,” currently shooting its third season.
