At the time of its release, To All the Boys I've Loved Before was one of Netflix's biggest original hits, garnering 80 million views and strong repeat watching figures. So when the follow-up sequels were announced, the reaction was exactly what you'd expect: fanatically enthusiastic.
To All the Boys star Lana Condor revealed that To All the Boys 3 is done filming. Yep. "We finished shooting it," she said. "It's done. We shot 2 and 3 [back-to-back]." Insert excited Kermit the Frog emoji here.
To All the Boys 3 title: Will it be named after Jenny Han's novel?
In all likelihood, we think yes. So far, the movies have both been named after Han's Young Adult novels with the second adding the prefix of To All the Boys (since PS I Still Love You was likely too close to another romance movie, PS I Love You).
The third book in Han's trilogy is titled Always and Forever, Lara Jean. So for continuity's sake, the third film will likely be titled To All the Boys: Always and Forever, Lara Jean.
To All the Boys 3 plot: What will happen to Lara Jean and Peter?
In the third novel, which the movie will likely follow if not closely, at least generally, Lara Jean and Peter are finishing up their final year of High School and looking towards University. If you haven't read the books and want to go in totally spoiler-free, skip down to the next big heading!
Both apply to the University of Virginia but only Peter is accepted while Lara Jean gets into William and Mary and wait-listed at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
William and Mary is much closer to UVA, but when Lara Jean is taken off the waitlist at UNC, Chris urges her friend to check out the North Carolina school. (All of these schools are real, by the way! This writer was rejected from William and Mary, OH WELL.)
Lara Jean now has to confront Peter with the idea of being farther apart, which is only made worse when her father sends her and her sisters to Korea to stay with their grandmother for the summer to grow closer to their culture. Lara Jean laments staying away from Peter over the holiday.
Peter's parents tell Lara Jean that Peter is considering giving up his athletic goals at UVA and going to UNC with her, and they ask her to break up with him. She gets drunk (for the first time) and does so, but later regrets it.
Eventually, the couple reconcile (again) and head into their freshman year at University in a long-distance relationship, but hopeful for the future. Oh, and Lara Jean's dad married Trina.
How much of this remains in the movie is anyone's guess. The first two films took some liberties with the plot points, but their overall shape was very recognisable as similar to the books'.
To All the Boys 3 release date: When is To All the Boys 3 on Netflix?
No idea, sorry. However, we do know that since it's done filming there likely won't be as big a gap as there was between the first two To All the Boys movies.
To All the Boys 3 cast: Who will return?
Everyone from the second movie should return – yep, Noah Centineo, Lana Condor, Janel Parrish, Anna Cathcart, Madeleine Arthur, Sarayu Blue and John Corbett – with the exception of Jordan Fisher, as he doesn't appear in the third novel.
To All the Boys 3 trailer: We want some footage!
Unfortunately, it's likely a while to wait for a trailer. However, if you want to be kept updated, keep your eyes on this space (and follow all the stars on social, duh!). Unlike the first film, there's no mid-credits scene in To All the Boys: PS I Still Love You to whet your appetite.
Instead, you'll have to wait for To All the Boys 3. Just like the rest of us. Insert sad Kermit emoji here.
To All the Boys I've Loved Before and To All the Boys: PS I Still Love You are available to watch on Netflix.
