Brad Pitt really threw himself into the latest round of publicity for his new film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, pranking his co-star Margot Robbie as she posed for photographers.

While Robbie struck a pose for cameras Pitt, 55, decided to break the ice by dramatically leaping in front of her, ruining the shot, much to his Aussie co-star’s delight.

The pair were participating in a press day at the Four Seasons hotel in Beverly Hills to promote their new film when Pitt’s mischievous side came to the fore. Seeing an opportunity to surprise Robbie, he leapt into the action and the photos are brilliant.

Joining Pitt and Robbie at the event was their co-star Leonardo DiCaprio and the film’s writer-director Quentin Tarantino, although they both remained firmly glued to terra firma during the shoot.

Looking relaxed in layered t-shirts and a flat cap, Pitt is clearly feeling comfortable with the film, which looks set to be a critical and commercial hit having premiered to rave reviews at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. It was greeted by a standing ovation at the notoriously hard-to-please French cinema event

Set in 1969, Tarantino’s ninth feature film follows the exploits of DiCaprio’s fading star Rick Dalton and his stunt double Cliff Booth (Pitt), as they attempt to navigate a Tinseltown on the cusp of a major cultural and cinematic shift.

Robbie plays Sharon Tate, the real-life victim of the Manson Family cult, who lives next door to Booth, and the film promises to recount the tragic event but through the prism of a Tarantino lens.

The Pulp Fiction director sought approval from Tate’s family following an initial backlash, and he now has her family’s blessing.

Here’s the official synopsis: Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood visits 1969 Los Angeles, where everything is changing, as TV star Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) make their way around an industry they hardly recognise anymore. The ninth film from the writer-director features a large ensemble cast and multiple storylines in a tribute to the final moments of Hollywood’s golden age.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is in UK cinemas from 14 August. Watch the first trailer below.
