Brad Pitt has opened up about threatening Harvey Weinstein back in 1995 after learning that the disgraced producer had sexually harassed his then girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow.

Paltrow had previously revealed that Pitt approached Weinstein at the Broadway opening of Hamlet and told him, “If you ever make her feel uncomfortable again, I’ll kill you.”

During his recent press duties for his latest movie Ad Astra, Pitt was asked about this incident, and explained, “At that moment, I was just a boy from the Ozarks on the playground and that’s how we confronted things. I just wanted to make sure nothing was going to happen further, because Paltrow was going to do two [more] films [with Weinstein].”

Pitt was more than happy to open up about his threat to Weinstein, though, as he also told CNN that he believes this story, and others like it, play an important part in helping to recalibrate the workplace dynamics between men and women.

“I think the interesting thing is that we, Hollywood specifically, but the workplace, men and women’s dynamics is being recalibrated, recalibrated in a very good way that is long overdue. And I do think that’s an important story to tell.”

Paltrow previously revealed that Weinstein put his hands on her in a Beverly Hills hotel room shortly after he’d cast her in the lead role for Emma. Paltrow then told Pitt about the incident, which resulted in the above altercation. In May, 2018, Paltrow told The Howard Stern Show that she was eternally grateful for Pitt’s actions.

“It was the equivalent of throwing him against the wall, energetically. It was so fantastic because what he did was, he leveraged his fame and power to protect me at a time when I didn’t have fame or power yet. He’s the best.”
