We still have another year(!) until Captain Marvel arrives on our screens, but there is still plenty of buzz around Brie Larson's superhero debut.

However, the Room actress admitted that she wasn't even sure whether to take the role in the first place.

Aware of the huge changes the role would bring, Larson told The AP: "There's a lot about it that felt like a big decision and it's not just a big decision for myself, it's a big decision for my family and my partner and for my friends.

"It's a big change for everybody and I wasn't sure if it was the right thing for me."

But the 28-year-old added that Marvel did everything it could to make her feel comfortable in the role.

"I never want to do, make artistic decisions that will feel like a burden or that would take me away from the parts of my life that I find fulfilling, so Marvel was super patient and allowed me a lot of time to think it over and then once I felt like I had made the right decision – which was doing it – I got both feet in and I'm really happy," she added.

It was recently revealed that Larson's superhero alter ego would be taking over as the face of the MCU for its fourth phase, following in the footsteps of the likes of Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man and Chris Evans's Captain America.

The head of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige recently explained Captain Marvel's powers, saying she's a US Airforce pilot (real name Carol Danvers) who adopts superhuman strength and the ability to fly after her DNA is altered in an accident. Basically, she doesn't require a plane anymore.

Captain Marvel will arrive in cinemas on March 8, 2019 in the UK and the US. Avengers 4 opens on April 26, 2019 in the UK and in the US on May 3, 2019.
