According to ‘director Michael Bay, ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ just gave Britain’s loneliest dog a role in the upcoming movie… and that’s just awesome.

“Found this in the news last week in the UK,” he said via Twitter. “We gave the Loneliest Dog, a role in Transformers.”

The story of Britain’s loneliest dog – a Staffordshire bull terrier cross named Freya – was detailed in a recent article by The Mirror. And it’s clearly tugged at the heart strings of many.

Including ‘Transformers’ director, Michael Bay.

“A poor pooch has been dubbed Britain’s loneliest dog after being rejected by more than 18,000 potential owners in just six years,” they revealed. “Freya, a six-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier cross, was taken in by Freshfields Animal Rescue in Liverpool as a six-month-old stray.”

Staff at the kennels have been baffled as to why visitors always overlook poor Freya… and now matters have been made even worse after she was diagnosed with epilepsy.

“Freya has her own Facebook page with more than 700 friends, yet not one of the rescue centre’s 18,720 visitors over the last six years have given her a home.”

“Freya was brought into the rescue as a young stray but nobody came forward to claim her,” said deputy kennel manager, Kate Jones. “She has been here many years and is constantly overlooked, which breaks our hearts as we adore her. We do not understand why she has been overlooked.“

“Every year we update her age on the website and it absolutely breaks our hearts to see her getting older and has never had a home. She is a beautiful girl, so loving and friendly. She is our big baby.”

But it looks as though Freya is finally getting a bit of good luck.

“Freya, has epilepsy and has been in a shelter her whole 6 year life.We are also going to find her a home,” said director Michael Bay. “If not she will come to my house. Welcome to the cast Freya!”

‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ will see the return of Mark Wahlberg, alongside Isabela Moner, Josh Duhamel and Jerrod Carmichael.

Iconic Transformers Optimus Prime and Megatron are said to be returning.

‘Transformers 5’ heads to cinemas on 23 June 2017.
