Hereditary and Midsommar studio A24 have released the trailer for X, a new horror centered around a group of people trying to make a porn film, starring Pitch Perfect star Brittany Snow and Grey's Anatomy's Martin Henderson.

As detailed in the trailer, it's the late 1970s, and a handful of filmmakers arrive on location for their project (which they believe is destined to get them into Hollywood) and meet the creepy old man who's renting out the house and lives next door.

He tells them there's something wrong with his wife, and before you know it, she starts turning up in the house without her clothes on. Things start to get crazy, people scream, there's blood everywhere, and the police are called out to investigate.

Between the porn dialogue mirroring the creepy old man situation, the upbeat music, the bright '70s aesthetic and the entire premise, this one looks like its tongue is firmly in its cheek, but we've got a feeling it could get quite sinister.

In terms of casting alongside Brittany and Martin, there's Jenna Ortega (You, Jane the Virgin), Mia Goth (Nymphomaniac, Emma), Stephen Ure (The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Ash vs Evil Dead) and Scott Mescudi/Kid Cudi (Don't Look Up, Bill & Ted Face the Music).

If you're a fan of The Innkeepers and House of the Devil, you'll be glad to know that Ti West has both written and directed this one.

A24 has plenty of interesting stuff in the pipeline, but perhaps none more exciting than Everything Everywhere All at Once, a film produced by Avengers: Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo. It also stars the legendary Michelle Yeoh as a woman who learns about the multiverse and is tasked with saving it.

Honestly, they had us a Michelle Yeoh.

X is set for a US release on March 18. We're still waiting to hear about a UK release.
