The first trailer for Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg's new movie Palm Springs has landed, and we're getting serious Groundhog Day vibes.

The new movie, which also stars Riverdale's Camila Mendes and Arrowverse Superman star Tyler Hoechlin, sees Samberg play carefree man Nyles opposite Cristin Milioti's (Black Mirror) maid of honour Sarah.

The pair have a chance encounter at a Palm Springs wedding and end up finding themselves on an endless loop waking up at the same place.

In the trailer, their predicament forces the two to get pretty existential, as well as make some reckless decisions, including ruining the wedding and crashing cars.

Palm Springs premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival and gained large critical acclaim, so it definitely looks like one to watch.

Samberg is of course probably best known for his work as Jake Peralta on Brooklyn Nine-Nine, alongside his time on Saturday Night Live and musical project The Lonely Island.

The comedy is currently preparing for its eighth season, and cast member Terry Crews recently confirmed that the new episodes will be influenced by the Black Lives Matter movement.

"We actually all got on a Zoom call just the other day, because of what's happening in this country and we were witnessing so many abuses of power," he said.

"We had some sombre talks and some really, really eye-opening conversation about how to handle this new season."

Palm Springs is due to premiere on July 10 on Hulu. A UK release date is yet to be confirmed.
