It could be time to say Hi to a Hisense! Combining ultra-sharp 4K resolution picture with its own no fuss smart TV platform built for catch-up TV and streaming, this highly affordable fifty-incher has what it takes to compete with better known TV rivals.

For one thing, it isn’t short on features.

Freeview Play ensures all the main channel catch-up TV players, like BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All 4 and My5, are available, and there’s big name streaming support from Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube, here too.

One of the things I’ve particularly liked about Hisense's own Vidaa smart system is its stripped down simplicity. Here in fourth generation guise, complete with a new launcher View bar, it’s really simple to use.

The launcher is preloaded with streaming services, and when combined with Freeview Play, makes browsing for shows a doddle - the remote control also comes with a plethora of dedicated app buttons, handy when you need speedy access to Bridgerton.

In terms of design, the A7300F model looks neat. The surrounding bezel is reassuringly thin, and the screen sits on a lightweight wire frame pedestal.

You get three HDMI inputs, which is one more than usual for such a cheap TV, as well as Bluetooth.

There’s even voice control, courtesy of Amazon Alexa. Not only can you shout at this TV, it’ll listen!

Image quality is sharp and vibrant. For the best results, view the picture square on, rather than an angle, and watch in rooms with some ambient lighting. Its sound performance is fine, given how thin the screen is, but it’s worth planning for a soundbar at some point.

Currently priced at £349, we rate this generous 50-inch flatscreen as a proper bargain.
