Cannes: Dakota Fanning, Helen Hunt Starring in Drama ‘Please Stand By’

In a pre-Cannes move, Dakota Fanning and Helen Hunt have been set to star in road-trip drama “Please Stand By” with Ben Lewin (“The Sessions”) directing. Embankment Films is handling international sales. CAA is handling the U.S. sale.

Daniel Dubiecki and Lara Alameddine of Los Angeles-based the Allegiance Theater are producing. Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban’s 2929 Productions are financing.

Fanning stars as a brilliant young woman with autism, who escapes her care home with the goal of delivering her script to a Hollywood competition. She’s pursued by her no-nonsense carer, played by Hunt. Lewin and Hunt teamed on “The Sessions.”

The script to “Please Stand By” is written by Michael Golamco, whose credits include “Grimm” and “The Achievers.”

Fanning starred in “The Last Robin Hood,” “Every Secret Thing” and “Very Good Girls.”
