Cannes: Picture Tree Takes on Sales of German Blockbuster ‘Fack Ju Goehte 2’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Berlin-based Picture Tree Intl. is handling world sales on comedy “Fack Ju Goethe 2,” the sequel to Germany’s most successful film of 2013. Constantin Film will release the sequel wide in Germany on Sept. 10.

“Fack Ju Goehte,” which had the international title “Suck Me Shakespeer,” grossed more than $75 million at the German-speaking box office, and went on to a successful international career with sales to more than 30 countries.

Part two reunites criminal-turned-teacher Zeki Mueller, played by Elyas M’Barek, and his colleague Lisi Schnabelstedt, played by Karoline Herfurth, with their chaotic students. Bora Dagtekin is the writer and director of the film. Lena Schoemann and Bora Dagtekin are producing, and Martin Moszkowicz is executive producing for Constantin Film.

Picture Tree also handled sales on the first movie, whose buyers included Cinemart (Czech and Slovak Republic), Ocean Film Distribution (France), Big Bang Media (Hungary), Maxi Vision (Russia), A-Company (Vietnam), Sejong Communication (South Korea), A-Z Films (French Canada), Fil Vision (Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan), Camimovie (Italy), Splendor (Spain), Vivarto (Poland), Limon Film (Turkey) and Deltamac (Taiwan). Among the upcoming releases in key territories are Italy, Spain and Poland.
