Cannes: ‘The Salvation’ Finds Home In France, Greece and Estonia

PARIS– TrustNordisk has sold Kristian Levring’s western “The Salvation” to France, Greece and Estonia, in the run-up to Cannes Film Festival, where the movie will world-premiere in the Midnight section.

Pic was acquired by Jour2Fête and Chrysalis Films for French distribution, Hollywood Entertainment in Greece and Estin Film in Estonia.

A North America-set revenge tale penned by Anders Thomas Jensen (“In A Better World”), “Salvation” stars Mads Mikkelsen as a 19th-century Danish settler who sets out to avenge his family. Mikkelsen plays opposite an attractive international cast including Eva Green, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Mikael Persbrandt, Eric Cantona and Jonathan Pryce.

Jour2Fête and Chrysalis Films previously teamed up on the distribution of the Oscar-nominated “A Royal Affair” in France.

“The Salvation” is produced by Sisse Graum Jorgensen for Zentropa Entertainments33 ApS, and co-produced by Spier Films from South Africa and Forward Films from U.K.. The Danish Film Institute, Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR) and Nordisk Film & TV Fond supported the film.
