Netflix subscribers are being left thoroughly shocked by how bad Capone actually is.

The streaming service added the 2020 film starring Tom Hardy to its library last week, with many of the actor’s fans flocking to watch it.

However, these people are now issuing warnings on social media to fellow subscribers who might think the film is worth their time.

The film, in which Hardy plays Al Capone, is being heavily criticised by viewers, with one several people calling it “the worst film [they’ve] ever seen”.

Capone, directed by Chronicle’s Josh Trank, follows the infamous gangster as he suffers from syphilis and dementia while living in Florida after serving 11 years in prison for tax evasion.

“Actually one of the worst films I have seen,” one person wrote, adding: ‘I like Tom Hardy as an actor and enjoy the 'gangster' genre. But this was awful.”

Another viewer echoed this sentiment, stating: “Just watched Capone on Netflix. Arguably one of the s***test films I’ve ever seen.”

Echoing that statement, someone else advised: “If you’re thinking about watching that Capone film this weekend, don’t.”

At the time of its release, Hardy’s performance divided critics, withThe Wrap, writing that the actor “laughs in the face of conventional notions of good vs bad acting”.

Next Best Picture, who called it “one of the worst performances of Hardy’s career”, added: “[He] grunts, coughs and s***s his way through scenes that lack any form of direction, sympathy and/or purpose.”

Capone , which cracked Netflix’s top 10 after days of being added, also stars Linda Cardellini, Jack Lowden, Noel Fisher, Kyle MacLachlan, and Matt Dillon.

It’s available to stream now – at your peril.
