Cara Delevingne Defends 'British Sense Of Humour' After Awkward Interview

Cara Delevingne has stood up for her ‘British sense of humour’ following an awkward interview with US TV which quickly went viral.

The 22-year-old model-turned-actress was interviewed on 'Good Morning Sacramento’ last week promoting her latest movie ‘Paper Towns’.

But the chat was cut short following a series of inane questions from the show’s hosts, and some short shrift supplied by Delevingne.

Tweeting about the exchange, which did the rounds on social media yesterday, she said: “Some people just don’t understand sarcasm or the British sense of humour.”

Things didn’t start brilliantly after host Marianne McClary mis-pronounced her Carla, with the interview going largely downhill from there.

Asked if she’d read the book by John Green that the film is based on, she sharply replied: “No I never read the book, or the script. I kind of winged it.”

Then when asked if her busy schedule made it easier to focus on projects, she scoffed: “No, I don’t know where that comes from. No.”

When the interview was wound up early, after which it was suggested that Delevingne 'took a nap’ and 'have a Red Bull’, the hosts then laid into Delevingne, McClary saying: “Wow! She was in a mood! Jeez Louise, everything sarcastic. I think she was just a little irritated.”

In response to Delevingne’s tweet, 'Garden State’ star Zach Braff came to her defence, saying: “Or how it’s condescending to ask an actress if she’s read the book.”

'Paper Towns’ is out in the UK on August 17.
