Cara Delevingne Talks Suicide Squad Role As Enchantress

Jared Leto’s Joker is getting all the attention, but Cara Delevingne’s Enchantress remains one of the more interesting characters in next year’s ‘Suicide Squad’.

In the latest issue of Empire Magazine Delevingne talks about her mysterious and dangerous character, a normal woman who encounters an ancient evil.

“June [Moon] is an adventure seeker who’s always wanted some excitement,” she explains (via CBM). “And she gets what she wished for, but in a terrible way. At the start of the movie she discovers a cavern and finds… something… within.”

That something is Enchantress, a magical and pissed off being that possesses June. “She’s an ancient sorceress. A feral being. She’s been trapped for so long and know she’s finally let out.”

Asked how she differentiated the performances for June and Enchantress, Delevinge said: “I’d gather the accent, which is deeper and posher than June’s. And I’d listen to Nick Cave’s Red Right Hand, that song about the devil. Also a lot of Megadeth. Just evil stuff.”

Enchantress also got her own cover for the issue, which you can see below.

Reports had circulated that Enchantress might be one of the film’s antagonists - by which we mean one of the villains the villains of the titular Suicide Squad fight against. However a fresh report has indicated that Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller may be the true baddie.

We still know very little about the plot of David Ayer’s film, with all the leaked footage and marketing material instead focusing on the looks of the film’s characters.

Chief among them are Leto’s Joker and Davis’s Waller but also Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, Will Smith’s Deadshot and Joel Kinnaman’s Rick Flagg.

'Suicide Squad’ is set for release on 5 August 2016.
