Carol Vorderman donating private plane to help transport PPE around the country for NHS

Carol Vorderman is doing her bit to help the NHS during the coronavirus.

The 59-year-old, who passed her private pilot's license back in 2013, is lending out her plane, Mildred, so it can be used to transport personal protective equipment (PPE) around the UK.

The former Countdown star posted pictures of alongside her beloved plane as she revealed the news on Twitter.

She wrote: "My Mildred and I (my aeroplane N242CV) have had some adventures BUT I want to tell you that right now she is being used by the amazing people at ⁦@BAESystemsAir to ferry PPE to where it's needed by our #NHS around the country.... #GoMildred #NHSThankYou."

Vorderman passed her private pilot's license back in 2013 and planned to fly solo around the world in 2017, but put her plans on hold after her mother Jean died from terminal cancer.

She's also been helping out in another way with regards to the effects of the coronavirus as she's made her maths videos and activities available for free while parents attempt to homeschool their children after school closures.

Vorderman is one of number of celebrities offering to help educate occupy children during the lockdown.

David Walliams is putting out free audiobooks everyday, while Joe Wicks is instructing a PE lesson every weekday morning.

He surprised his viewers on Friday morning as he conducted his routine all while wearing a Spiderman costume.
