Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher reckons the Reds will “have to consider” selling Mo Salah if they are offered £150m for the forward.

The Reds have already been stung by Saudi Arabian clubs this summer with Fabinho and Jordan Henderson both departing unexpectedly to the Middle East.

Liverpool were seemingly caught off guard over those losses with bids for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia ultimately failing as both players ended up at Chelsea.

The Merseysiders have brought in Wataru Endo from Stuttgart for £18m and are reportedly working on a deal to sign Bayern Munich’s Gravenberch – but Jurgen Klopp will be hopeful they don’t have a repeat situation with Salah.

There have been reports over the last week that Salah has an offer of £191m a season over three years available to move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

Klopp has denied there is any interest in Salah, he told a press conference on Friday: “Yes (there isn’t any bids). It’s difficult to talk about media stories as there’s nothing to talk about from our point of view. Mo Salah is a Liverpool player. There’s nothing there. If there was something the answer would be no (he’s not for sale).

“My life philosophy is I think about a problem when I have it. At the moment, there’s nothing. I said already if there is something, the answer would be no. Is Mo still committed? 100 per cent!”

There is talk of a potential €100m (£86m) fee for Salah but Carragher reckons it would take at least £150m for Liverpool to consider selling this summer.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher said: “He won’t be sold for £100m but if it gets close to £150m or over £150m, then Liverpool might be tempted. When you talk about £100m, they shouldn’t even discuss it. But £150m for a player of his age, you’d have to consider it.”

Before Carragher said to fellow Sky Sports pundit Neville about Saudi wages: “When you’re talking about those wages [£1.5m-a-week], if you got offered that as a pundit, would you go?”

To which the former Manchester United defender replied: “What? £1.5m-a-week? Ummmmmm maybe.”

Another former Liverpool player, Stan Collymore, reckons it could take as much as £300m for the Merseysiders to give the green light to a sale before September 1.

Collymore told Caught Offside: “The reality is, Liverpool aren’t in the same financial bracket as the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea, so if Al-Ittihad, or any other club, make them an offer, and don’t get me wrong, it’ll have to be a mega offer, probably a world-record, then I can see them accepting because they just can’t afford to say no to something like £300 million.

“I don’t see Salah as a disruptive type of player, but again, if reports he’s being offered £1,500,000-per week are to be believed, there is no way he’s turning his back on that. Who would? – But it isn’t just the money on offer that will appeal to Salah.

“There’s a huge cultural aspect to this touted move. He’s a strict muslim and let’s be honest, he isn’t a born n’ bred scouser. Yes, he will go down as a Liverpool legend but he’s a career professional that has already had several high-profile transfers in his time so why wouldn’t he move to the Middle East?”
