Despite not having appeared in the movie, Carrie Fisher’s French bulldog Gary managed to steal the show at last night’s ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ premiere in London.

The hound monopolised the red carpet, appearing in pictures with many of the movie’s stars.

Gary had travelled from Los Angeles with Fisher on the R2-D2 jet, along with the movie’s director J.J Abrams, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and new stars John Boyega and Daisy Ridley.

He even got a selfie with Oscar Isaac, who plays resistance pilot Poe Dameron in the movie while on board.

And then on arrival in London, Gary, who has his own page on Instagram, mingled with ease at the star-studded event.

He even tussled with BB-8, the new droid from the soon-to-be number one movie.

It was indeed a momentous night in London’s Leicester Square as star from the movie and a vast array of celebrities descended upon the West End for the premiere.

And as well as the vast number of celebrities, dozens of Storm Troopers of various stripes and Imperial Guards took to the red carpet too.

The movie, the first in a swathe of new Star Wars-based projects from Disney, has already broken records ahead of its release tomorrow.

It’s hauled in over $100 million in advance ticket sales, with analysts predicting that it could top the record held by 'Avatar’ of the biggest movie of all time.
