Prime Minister Boris Johnson's fiancee Carrie Symonds has shared photographs of their Scottish staycation showing the couple out walking in the countryside with their baby son Wilfred and dog Dilyn.

The couple looked to have been having the best of the Scottish weather after an indifferent week across the UK.

Ms Symonds posted photographs of the three of them enjoying bright sunshine along the Scottish coast, with her in T-shirts and shorts and Mr Johnson in shirtsleeves and hiking boots carrying his son in a sling.

It is thought the photographs were taken close to a remote nature reserve on the west coast of Scotland, with Ms Symonds telling friends she was keen to escape the attention of photographers who have been trying to spot them during their holiday.

They are understood to have visited the area because of its abundance of seals and seabirds.

As if to get her own back on the press snappers trying to get shots of their break Ms Symonds posted several photographs of her own on the social media platform Instagram.

It was reported on Friday that the couple spent their holiday in a glamping tepee in the grounds of a £1200-a-week three-bedroom rental house in Lonbain, Applecross.

Farmer Kenny Cameron claims that Mr Johnson had pitched the tent in his field without permission, saying: “Usually if people want to go inside a fenced area they ask for permission first, but I was not asked at all.

“He could have put up his tent in the garden of the cottage and there would have been no problem – but he didn’t do that.”

No 10 staff reportedly apologised to Mr Cameron, telling him they and the PM thought the field was part of the cottage.

But judging by the smile on their faces Ms Symonds and her finance did not let any grumbling about them trespassing ruin their Scottish break.

The photographs were posted with the comment “Glorious Scotland” and an emoji of the Saltire flag, after reports they had been forced to cut short their holiday and return to London following concern over the security risk of the whereabouts of their holiday being made public.
