The project comes months after Blanchett was announced as the lead in Rumours, the new feature from Guy Maddin. The film will reportedly follow various world leaders as they struggle to prepare a statement at the G7, with the supporting cast including Charles Dance and Alicia Vikander.
Blanchett is also due to feature in Borderlands, the adaptation of the video game series, with the star playing Lilith alongside Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Jamie Lee Curtis and Ariana Greenblatt.
Blanchett will also star alongside Vicky Krieps in Father, Mother, Sister, Brother, the new film from acclaimed independent filmmaker Jim Jarmusch.

For Fassbender, Black Bag will follow The Killer and Next Goal Wins, his first films in four years following a hiatus. The star recently explained the reasons for his break during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, outlining his interest in motor racing.
“It's an obsession and feels so right as I have no affinity with any other sport. I am super addicted, and I want to go back and do Le Mans again – it was extraordinary,” he said. “It’s not just about the speed, it is about getting into a place where you're not thinking of anything else. I love it.”
Black Bag currently has no release date.
