Celebrities smoke, stress eat and drink amid wait for presidential election results

Voting is over but the great wait is on for the winner of the 2020 presidential election between President Donald Trump and Joe Biden.

Despite what’s been said, there’s no winner yet in the race as many absentee ballots are being tabulated — and everyone is impatient, including celebrities. There’s been stress eating, drinking, smoking and — luckily, because we can all use some lightheartedness — a few jokes amid the largely liberal crowd in Hollywood.

Jimmy Kimmel compared the wait for a winner to having surgery sans anesthesia.

Whitney Cummings quipped that it’s more stressful than waiting for a positive or negative.

Molly Sims compared it to a paternity reveal on Maury.

Good morning everyone. After a long night, the election still has not been called, and all eyes are now on a few crucial states - so I wanted to provide you with some updates on what we know so far. Hang in there, and be patient. NEVADA The state’s election division announced Wednesday morning that no more results would be updated until noon Eastern on Thursday. Remaining votes include mail ballots received on Election Day, those that will arrive over the next week, and provisional ballots. 86% of votes have been reported, Biden in the lead. WISCONSIN 97% of estimated votes have been reported with Biden in the lead by a small margin. Absentee ballots are expected to be counted by Wednesday morning. MICHIGAN 90% of estimated votes have been reported. The remaining mail ballots are expected to favor Democrats. Biden has a very small lead as of this morning. On Tuesday, the secretary of state said that she expected to have a “very clear picture, if not a final picture” or the results by Wednesday night. GEORGIA 96% of votes have been reported with Biden up slightly. Still waiting for votes from Atlanta and the surrounding suburbs - counting should be completed today. PENNSYLVANIA 76% of estimated votes are in - with Trump ahead - but more than half of the uncounted votes are in suburbs and medium cities. The remaining mail ballots are expected to favor Democrats. Officials have said they expect most votes will be counted by Friday, November 6th. Pennsylvania has the largest share of uncounted ballots. State officials couldn’t begin opening mail-in ballots until Election Day, so it may take days to count more than a million outstanding ballots. NORTH CAROLINA 99% of estimated votes have been reported - with Trump ahead. Mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day are accepted until November 12. ARIZONA 98% of votes have been reported with Biden ahead by less than 100,000 votes with an estimated 400,000 yet to be counted. But the vast majority of the uncounted ballots are in Phoenix, which favors Democrats. Officials expect to finish counting ballots today. #election #results #news #politics #breathe

And Dan Rather had sage advice, as he often does.

While Trump incorrectly claimed victory on Tuesday, the wait continues as ballots are counted in states including Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, and Biden remained hopeful.

On Stephen Colbert’s Showtime election night special, he talked about why “it's actually a good thing we don't know who won yet”:
