While lots of people were doing drugs in the 70s, not all of them were caught with over 650 grams and sentenced to three to seven years for trafficking. The voice of Buzz Lightyear was, though. He served two years and four months.

Prior to his big break on Moviewatch, Johnny served two years of a four-year jail sentence for trying to sell £15,000 worth of cocaine to undercover police officers at a service station on the M1.

In an incident of air rage, Stone Roses frontman Brown hammered on the door of the cockpit and threatened to cut a stewardesses hands off on a flight back to the UK from Paris. He was jailed for four months, but served only two.

While serving in West Germany in 1966, Grantham tried to rob a taxi driver, shooting and killing him. He claimed he didn’t know the gun was loaded, and was sentenced to life in prison, serving his time in the UK. He was released after 10 years.

Star of movies like ‘Alien 3’, ‘Menace II Society’, and shows like ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘CSI’ Charles S. Dutton served seven years in prison for manslaughter aged 17 after a fight resulted in the death of another man. Just months after his release, he was arrested for possession of a deadly weapon and served another three years.

Mark Walhberg
Mark Wahlberg was the epitome of a wild child, taking drugs and drinking from his early teens. After a racially-motivated assault, he was initially charged with attempted murder aged 16. He pleaded guilty to assault was given two years, eventually serving just 45 days. He has a permanent felony record, but requested a pardon in 2014.

Wesley Snipes
‘New Jack City’ star Snipes was convicted of tax evasion in 2006, which included a charge for trying to claim a $4 million refund, and another for $7.3 million. He was sentenced to three years in prison, and was released in 2013.

The folksy queen of American home life was, rather uncharacteristically, collared for insider trading, selling off all her shares in a company the day before it tanked. She was indicted on fraud charges, and was given five months in jail, and two years on supervised release.

Danny Trejo
O.J. notwithstanding, there are a few celeb folk who have done some serious time. One is ‘Heat’ and ‘Sons of Anarchy’ star Danny Trejo. He was in and out of jail through the 1960s, his last being a five-year stretch in San Quentin. There he became a boxer, then when he was released, a drug counsellor, and then a movie extra. The rest is history.

Stephen Fry
Aged just 17, Stephen Fry stole the credit card of a family friend and absconded. He was collared in Swindon and spent three months in Pucklechurch Prison, near Bristol. He said the only thing that saw him through was receiving The Times crossword every day from his mother.

All smiles on the red carpets, this lot have had to grin and bear it in a prison cell for everything from insider dealing, drug-dealing to manslaughter.
