The English Championship may be a long way off the Premier League in terms of reputation and match quality but the attendances up and down the division aren’t too inferior.
Just over a dozen matches have been played by all 24 clubs during the 2023/24 season so far and a total of more than 3.4 million spectators have shown their faces, averaging 22,784 per fixture.
For comparison, the mean figure in the Premier League is 38,622 per match and that’s taking into account the 60,000+ capacities of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and West Ham United.
