Charles Leclerc has shown he is perhaps best to stick to driving after face-planting the floor then missing an open goal all within 90 seconds.

The Ferrari man is taking part in an annual charity football match that pits drivers and other F1 personnel against a ‘Star’ team ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix.

Leclerc was named captain of a squad that included the likes of Fernando Alonso, Pierre Gasly and even F1 president Stefano Domenicali as part of the Monaco World Stars Charity Football Match.

The game is hosted by the Children Sports Association which raises funds for children in need and the 2023 is the 24th edition of the special charity match. Given that it is the week before the Monaco Grand Prix it often has a strong turnout of F1 drivers with the likes of Max Verstappen have taken part in previous years.

Representing the rest of the world side, dubbed the Star Team, was the likes of tennis legend Novak Djokovic and bizarrely former Red Bull driver Daniil Kvyat.

If there were any scouts watching the game hosted at the home of professional outfit AS Monaco, the Stade Louis-II, they would have quickly made an assessment on Leclerc who managed to face-plant the floor when going in for a tackle then missed a glorious chance to equalise for his team.

With half an hour gone, Leclerc’s Ferrari team-mate Carlos Sainz burst down the left flank and squared the ball to put it on a plate for Leclerc but he again fluffed his lines, hitting the ball straight into the welcoming arms of the goalkeeper.

Earlier in the game, the all-star team went ahead in the ninth minute but the F1 team equalised shortly before half time.
