Angels assemble for action-packed new 'Charlie's Angels' trailer

There’s action, glamour and quips aplenty in the new trailer for Elizabeth Banks’ Charlie’s Angels movie, starring Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska.

The new movie will mark the first time the crime-fighting women have appeared on the big screen since director McG’s 2003 sequel Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

Banks is stepping behind the camera for the movie, having previously helmed Pitch Perfect 2, and will also portray one of several characters named Bosley — traditionally the Angels’ fellow employee at the Townsend Agency.

The new trailer offers glimpses of a number of big action sequences, as Aladdin star Naomi Scott’s newbie aims to “get her wings” and become a fully-fledged member of the team.

The final shot also reveals Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Lana Del Rey who, as well as recording new music for the film, appear as other members of the now-global team of Angels.

The movie is being sold as a continuation of the previous movies and the TV show, rather than a complete reboot of the franchise.

It follows the expansion of the Townsend Agency into a global network, with Angels operating all over the world.

Banks told EW it was important for her to “make a movie about women working together and supporting each other”, rather than focusing on romantic entanglements.

The original Charlie’s Angels series debuted on US TV in 1976, starring Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith, with John Forsythe providing the off-screen voice of Charlie — their boss.

Network ABC cancelled the series in 1981, but it gained a cult following in the subsequent years and was revived on the big screen in 2000, with Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Liu playing the main trio.

Charlie’s Angels will arrive in UK cinemas on 29 November after making its US debut a few weeks earlier on 15 November.
