Charlize Theron has shared a series of never-before-seen photos of her two daughters in honour of National Daughters Day.

On Saturday, the Mad Max star posted a tribute on Instagram to her children August, five, and Jackson, eight, featuring four photos of the family.

In the first image, Theron can be seen with her arms around her smiling children as they pose for the camera behind a cake with lit candles.

In the second photo, Jackson and August sip out of matching bowls, while a third shows the sister’s kissing and another shows them smiling at the camera.

“My heart belongs to these two beautiful powerhouses,” Theron wrote in the caption.

“I will never be the same. Happy #NationalDaughtersDay.”

Many of the actor’s celebrity friends commented on the post including Mad Men star January Jones who wrote: “Awww three beauties. You’re so lucky babe.”

Model Helena Christensen also commented: “Awwww such beautiful girls”, while actor Michelle Pfeiffer added: “Lucky mama."

Theron, who adopted Jackson in 2012 and August in 2015, rarely shares photos of her children on social media.

In May, she posted a throwback image of her eldest daughter laying on her chest on the set of action movie, Mad Max: Fury Road, to mark its fifth anniversary.

Theron was dressed as the character Imperator Furiosa in the photo, while Jackson’s face was covered with a purple heart emoji.

Prior to that, the last images she shared on social media of her children were in August 2019 and on World Adoption Day in 2016.

During a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Theron spoke about how becoming a mother has shifted her priorities.

“Once I had my children, it's not that it replaces something or that it makes you less interested in something else,” she said.

“I think your priorities are in a place that is of high demand, because it's a lot of work to be a parent. And then part of that is, at the end of the day, I get in bed, and I go, 'Oh my God, I wouldn't want this day to be anything different.'”

In December 2019, the star opened up about adopting her children and how she believed they “were meant to be“ in her life.

“I wanted to believe that somehow my child would find me in the way that we were just meant to be,” the Bombshell actor told NPR.

“Everything that I hoped would happen during my adoption process did happen because these two babies were meant to be in my life — and they’re my children.”
