Check Out This Doctor Who-Inspired Star Wars Lightsaber

The Force is strong with this ‘Doctor Who’ inspired lightsaber.

Designed for Time Lords who show a certain attunement to the Force, this awesome custom lightsaber was designed by Hampton’s Hand-Crafted Lightsabers… and combines some of the best sci-fi prop design we’ve seen in a long time.

Even if it would cause a disturbance in the wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

“This was the hardest build I’ve ever had,” they explained via YouTube as they introduced the Time Lord lightsaber. “Mostly because I just wanted to make sure I got it right.”

“For those of you who are Doctor Who fans, you will instantly recognise this as being… heavily influenced by a sonic screwdriver,” they added. “Comments below on which Doctor used a sonic screwdriver which looked like this.”

Based on the design of Matt Smith’s sonic screwdriver, this lightsaber features a rather slick claw-mounted blade emitter that 11th Doctor fans are bound to love… combined with a Yoda-esque green blade to light up your enemies.

“If you listen real close, you can hear that sonic screwdriver sound in the background of the saber hum,” they explained. “This is, first and foremost, a lightsaber… but I wanted to get that throwback to the sonic screwdriver.”

Of course, the latest Doctor, Peter Capaldi, has since received his very own sonic screwdriver… and it could even make a rather awesome lightsaber.

But lightsaber Sonic Sunglasses? Yeah… not so much.

‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ opened in cinemas on 17 December 2015.
