Raheem Sterling scored a brace to help Chelsea to a 3-0 win over newly promoted side Luton Town in the Premier League.
The win was the first for manager Mauricio Pochettino who had come into the game with one draw and one defeat in his first two Premier League games as Chelsea boss.
Pochettino made just one change to his team, handing record signing Moises Caicedo his first start, in place of the injured Carney Chukwuemeka who has since undergone surgery.
Decent outing. Maybe can add more to the attacking phase.
Chelsea started the game on the front foot and the brilliant Sterling produced a solo run before passing the ball into the net for his first goal of the game and his campaign.
He was on hand for his seond goal in the second half too before striker Nicolas Jackson opened his account with a tidy finish with Sterling again the provider. This was one of his best performances for the club since signing from Manchester City last season.
Luton just like their first game against Brighton did not look like a team that could hurt the home side and spent large parts of it looking to defend, but credit to Chelsea who took the game to them and forced the goals.
This was also the first time Robert Sanchez had kept a clean sheet as the Blues finally got off to a great win that will delight the manager and fans.
Looked to play with urgency. Had a few shots fired wide when he should have done better. Needs to add goals or at leats assists to his game.
Here is how they were rated by our reporter Rahman Osman.
A few heavy touches at the start of the game. But just looks like he’s built for this league. tidy finish for his first league goal.
Kept things nice and tidy in the middle.
A typical Gallagher performance. Hard work but missed a few passes.
Used his experience and calmed the team when he had to.
Not sure he’s affecting the game as much as he’d want from a wing-back’s position. Had a great chance to score but decided to set up Sterling and it just did not work.
Hard a solid first half and even a better second half.
Continued from where he left off against West Ham with a brilliant solo goal to underline his new form and confidence before scoring a second.
Good passing and saved what he had to.
Level headed and played with calm
