Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget has unveiled David Bradley's vocal work in the latest trailer for the stop-motion sequel.

A favourite among Game of Thrones and Harry Potter fans, the actor replaces the late Benjamin Whitrow (who sadly passed away in 2017) as the grey-feathered rooster Fowler.

Fowler's big moment in the teaser footage arrives when the heroic cluckers are chasing a van. He's hanging onto the bumper while Rocky uses his tail to pull a skateboard in tow.

"Hang on Fowler!" he yells to a cry of "Ohh! There go the goujons!" from Fowler.

His pain isn't short-lived, though, as he's later seen hitting every tree branch on his way down to the ground.

Recasting has been a major talking point surrounding Dawn of the Nugget, following the introduction of Thandiwe Newton and Zachary Levi as Ginger and Rocky. They're replacing the original movie's star Julia Sawalha and Mel Gibson respectively.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, director Sam Fell said: "Going back to that temptation to make this thing and the nervously and apprehension about making it right, as much as I absolutely adore the first film, which I think is a masterpiece, I didn't feel like I wanted to make a carbon copy.

"I didn't want to be too precious around it."

He continued: "So in those first two years I started to make my own decisions and felt, casting wise, we're 23 years later. It's a long time. It's almost a reboot to be honest. It's a new director and a new era. And I just started thinking, were all those casting decisions made in the late '90s still the best for the roles now?

"It's a very personal creative process and I felt in some cases it didn't quite fit anymore. Sometimes I felt it should stay the same. Ultimately I felt like this film has evolved since the first film. The world has turned on its axis and things have changed."

Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget comes to Netflix on Friday, December 15.
