There is just one day left until Thor: Love and Thunder is finally released and the anticipation has reached boiling point.

Over the past couple of weeks, fans have been drip-fed behind-the-scenes details and facts about the upcoming film. Now, just before the blockbuster opens in theatres, Chris Hemsworth has revealed that some of his children had cameos in the upcoming film, as did Natalie Portman, Christian Bale and Taika Waititi’s kids.

Speaking in an interview with entertainment reporter Kevin McCarthy, Hemsworth said: “Taika had his children in there. Christian Bale had his. Natalie had... her kids as well.”

“It felt like a one-off fun family experience. I don’t want them to now go and be child stars and actors. It was just a special experience we all had and they loved it. They had a great time.”

Hemsworth has three children with Spanish model Elsa Pataky: twin sons who are 8 years old and a daughter who is 10. In the forthcoming film, one of his children plays a young version of Thor, and in the interview with McCarthy audiences were given a glimpse of Hemsworth’s son in action, running through a forest.

“It’s really cool. They really wanted to be in it,” said Hemsworth.

Christian Bale, who plays Gorr the God Butcher also spoke about his children’s involvement in the film, as they were the ones who encouraged the actor to take the part of the supervillain when there were potential scheduling difficulties.

Speaking to Screen Rant, Bale said, “There were some potential scheduling conflicts. I said to my family, ‘I don’t think it’s going to work out,’ and they went, ‘No, you make it work out. You’re doing this, Dad.’ They gave me my marching orders, and I dutifully obeyed.”

Bale has two children, a son who is seven years old and a daughter who is 17. Waititi has two daughters while Natalie Portman also has two children, a daughter and a son.

Portman spoke about her children’s cameo in the film in an interview on Heart Breakfast Radio.

“That’s quite cute that everyone’s kids are in the movie,” said radio presenter Jamie Theakston. To which Portman joked: “I’m pretty sure that’s why Taika created that scene.”

In Thor: Love and Thunder, Portman plays Jane Foster, one of the world’s leading astrophysicists who later becomes a superhero in her own right.

The film follows the story of Thor, who is trying to find inner peace. He gets dragged back into the action when baddie Gorr the God Butcher sets out to try to eliminate all the Gods.

Thor: Love and Thunder is coming to theatres on July 8
