China appears to have royally ripped off Mad Max: Fury Road with 'Mad Sheila'
Come on, guys. Did you think no one would notice?
A new movie emerging from China (check the trailer out here), rather brilliantly called ‘Mad Sheila’, appears to be taking on the mantle of Aussie director George Miller’s post-apocalyptic vision.
But with more like the budgets Miller started off with in 1979 (‘Mad Max’ cost a meagre $350,000 to make back then).
There are the parched desert landscapes, the steampunk-esque modded vehicles, the search for water, and the marauding road gangs.
And with his manic laugh and goggles, one of these dudes looks not wildly unlike Nicholas Hoult’s ‘Fury Road’ character Nux too.
Then there are the posters…
Despite the name Sheila not being all that intimidating, and some of the vehicles looking a bit like off-the-peg quad bikes with some stuff stuck on them, and the explosions looking a bit budget, ‘Mad Sheila’ looks just demented enough to be forgiven its somewhat obvious ‘inspiration’.
Here’s hoping a full UK release is forthcoming.
