RJ Cutler, director of acclaimed documentary The September Issue, is in final talks to direct the film adaptation of the 2009 novel by Gayle Forman, according to Variety.
The Kick-Ass actress will star as 17-year-old Mia, a talented classical musician, who is dating an indie rock star. When she and her family are involved in a car accident, she is left drifting between life and death and must choose to give in to her injuries or fight to to live and be with her lover.
The rights to the book were first picked up in 2009 when Catherine Hardwicke, director of the first Twilight film, was attached.
