Chris Packham has called out Jeremy Clarkson after he branded climate change warrior Greta Thunberg “mad and dangerous”.

The TV presenter and naturalist warned former Top Gear host Clarkson that his grandchildren would remember him as an “unpleasant arse” for making such comments about the young Swede.

Clarkson, 59, has made no secret of his thoughts on the 16-year-old environmental activist in the past.

He had another pop at her as he promoted the latest series of his motoring show, The Grand Tour, on Australia’s Sunrise programme.

“She's mad and dangerous and she is causing the young children sleepless nights with her idiocy,” he said of the teenager.

“I think she needs to go back to school and shut up,” added the outspoken star.

However, Packham was evidently unimpressed with Clarkson’s words and fired straight back on Twitter with a message of his own.

He wrote: “Hello @JeremyClarkson just saw this rant about @GretaThunberg.

“I know you’ll be thinking I’m ‘weird’ & a ‘stupid idiot’ too but I suggest you sit down & have a think about what a dangerous and unpleasant arse you’ll be remembered as by your grandchildren.”

It is not the first time Clarkson has expressed his feelings about Thunberg.

Earlier this year he called her a “spoilt brat” in a column in The Sun and suggested that she would be better off back in the classroom.

“Get back to school as quickly as possible and work hard in your science lectures,” he wrote.

“Because science is what will solve the problem eventually.

“Not scowling and having screaming ab-dabs every five minutes.”
